Rick Ayers and Bill Ayers are distinguished academics and educational innovators. Rick was co-founder of the Communication Arts and Sciences (CAS) small school at Berkeley High School in 1997 and was lead teacher until 2006, He is an Adjunct Professor in Education at University of San Francisco and Mills College. William Ayers, formerly Distinguished Professor of Education and Senior University Scholar at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), was founder of both the Small Schools Workshop and the Center for Youth and Society. Both were leaders in the 60's New Left. Rick Ayers and William Ayers are co-authors of "Teaching the Taboo: Courage and Imagination in the Classroom," published in 2010 by Teachers College Press.
